A message from our CEO
1st February 2024
Dear Members,
I hope this message finds you well as we step into the month of February, leaving January and its challenges behind us.
Of course I recognise that what many of you haven’t been able to leave behind is the cost of living pressures you continue to face. Let’s hope that the recent increase in inflation was a one-off but what is certain is that prices are still rising and that energy costs are more than 60% higher than they were just two years ago, while food prices are almost 30% up.
At Leek Building Society, we understand the financial strain that these circumstances may be causing and we want to reassure you that we remain steadfastly committed to supporting you through these tough times.
We realise that managing your household budget can be a daunting task and we want to remind you of the support available to assist you (can be accessed by clicking here) including money management guidance, tips on reducing your bills, and information about external agencies providing free assistance. For our mortgage holders, you’ll find details of the Mortgage Charter which helps residential borrowers who may be struggling or who may be worried about making their repayments when their mortgage deal comes to an end. This Charter is a voluntary agreement drawn up by HM Treasury which we've proudly signed up to.
As we progress the release of our annual report and accounts for 2023, I’m pleased to advise that last year was a very positive one for our organisation. I look forward to sharing the specifics with you at the end of March.
I would like to wish you a good month ahead and as always, thank you for your loyalty and support.
With warmest personal regards.
Andrew Healy MBE
