Leek United’s Derby Street Branch is having a facelift
6th April 2021
Leek United Building Society has confirmed the dates for the refurbishment of its flagship branch in Derby Street, Leek, with work beginning in April.
The transformed branch will feature several different zones where customers will be able to undertake traditional counter transactions, browse products and services and enjoy relaxed and comfortable conversations in formal and informal meeting spaces. The modern surroundings will incorporate an innovative community area for seminars and educational events as well as digital screens and video conferencing facilities.
In order for the refurbishment work to be undertaken quickly and safely, the branch will temporarily close at 1:00pm on Friday, 9 April and will reopen at 9:00am on Monday 24 May. Any members requiring branch services during the temporary closure have been advised to use the closest alternative branch at 50, St. Edward Street, which is just a short distance away. Telephone support will also be available on 0808 169 8423.
Recent branch users have been communicated with directly, informing them of the temporary closure of the Leek Derby Street branch in order to minimise any inconvenience.
When asked about the branch refurbishment, Andy Armitage, Director of Customer Services, said, ‘We remain committed to our branch network and we’re investing in making our branches better, starting with our flagship branch in Derby Street, Leek. We’ve been working hard over recent months on the plans and we can’t wait to see them come to life. There will be some disruption for our members for 6 weeks or so as the work is being carried out but they will be well accommodated in our St Edward Street branch down the road.’
Head of Leek United’s Branch Network, Ian Blurton, said ‘As a Leek native, I recognise how difficult it has been for local businesses during the pandemic. I’m delighted that Leek United is continuing to invest in the local community and I’m confident this refurbished branch, with among many other things a super community events area, will be something for the people of Leek to be really proud of.” Back to news
