Since it launched in April 2022, our Charitable Foundation has made a significant impact in the local community, providing over £40,000 in vital funding to a wide range of causes.
Now celebrating its second birthday, the Foundation has provided 12 grants to local charities and community groups over the last 12 months.
To commemorate the milestone, Tim Edwards, Chair of the Leek Building Society Charitable Foundation, said:
“It’s a real pleasure to note the Foundation’s second birthday! The past two years have presented challenging times for many, and we’ve been able to support a variety of causes with grants. It’s been particularly rewarding to visit some of these projects and see the impact they’re making in our communities."
“After the success of the first Charity Golf Day last year, Leek Building Society are hosting another in June, with the proceeds once again going to the Foundation. I look forward to further successful years of the Foundation, building on the strong start made over the past two years and supporting more worthy causes in the future.”
Horton Lodge School in the Staffordshire Moorlands benefitted from a grant in 2023, and Lynsey Sherratt, Finance and Administrative Assistant shared an update on how it’s helping them to make a positive difference:
“The funding we received from the Charitable Foundation is being invested in creating a multi-functional sensory garden at the end of May. The creation of the garden is going to have a positive impact on our children, providing an inviting outdoor space with a variety of sensory experiences, including sensory planters and a reading and reflection area.”
Highlighting how the Charitable Foundation has helped to create positive change for their organisation, a representative from Lifeworks Staffordshire, said:
“The grant is enabling us to provide rambles and sporting activities such as cycling, archery and canoeing to help support our clients with autism and ADHD. Not only will these activities combat social exclusion with like-minded individuals, they’ll help our clients to sustain a healthier lifestyle and improve their mental health and wellbeing.”
