WE want your winter woollies!
With the worst of winter still to come, Leek United has launched a special appeal to help bring some vital warmth into the lives of people less fortunate.
We’re urging our customers, their friends and families to have a ‘post-Christmas clear-out’ of unwanted winter clothing to donate to some of the vulnerable individuals in the communities we serve.
Warm pullovers, cardigans, scarves, hats and gloves are all desperately needed, in our three week ‘Winter Woollies’ campaign to highlight homelessness and to ensure that the right help reaches those who need it most.
Kevin Wilson, the Society’s Chief Executive, said: “A core part of our business is helping people to buy their own home –sadly, there are also many people in our communities who do not have a roof over their heads.
“Homelessness is an all-year-round problem, but it affects people most acutely during the winter months.
“Many of us will have received gifts of new clothing this Christmas, and we are asking that people simply take a moment to think of those less fortunate who may be sleeping outdoors –and donate an item or two of warm clothing that they no longer need themselves.”
Donations can be made at any one of our 12 branches in Cheshire, Derbyshire, Shropshire and Staffordshire until Friday, 2 February.
Once collected, the clothing will be distributed to the charities we are working directly with, to be passed directly to those who rely on their help:
We’re hoping you’ll warm to our appeal –and thank you, in advance, for your help!
