Tax Residency and Citizenship - Disclosure Requirements

The UK government has, and will be signing, a number of inter-governmental agreements to share tax information, where applicable, with the tax authorities in other jurisdictions.  This was originally instigated by the US authorities and will result in additional legal requirements for financial services companies to collect certain information about each customer's tax arrangements. 

As part of the process for opening a new account with the Society we will be asking for your tax residency and tax identification numbers (where applicable), citizenship and nationality which will be retained for our records.  Please note this information will only be disclosed to the relevant tax authorities if and when required under UK law.  For more information please visit the HM Revenue & Customs website on
