STAFF from Leek United’s Ashbourne Branch recently took the scenic route into work in aid of a Derbyshire hospice.
Branch Manager Richard Czapski and his team enjoyed a ‘Sunrise Stroll’ together around the Carsington Water reservoir at the crack of dawn on Tuesday, 15 August, before heading back to town and clocking on for work.
The eight-mile route around the water’s edge took Richard and colleagues just under two and a half hours to complete between 5.30am-8am, working up an appetite for a pre-opening branch breakfast.
The trek has raised over £320 towards their £500 fundraising target for Risley-based Treetops Hospice*, and the team have also been selling raffle tickets for a food hamper.
“A recent home-baked cake sale that we held at the branch had already raised £270, thanks to the amazing generosity of customers, so we have now exceeded our target, which is a fantastic achievement,” said Richard.Back to news
