A NORTH Staffordshire hospice has received a double financial boost from Leek United members, staff and business associates.
Almost £1,600 has been presented to the Douglas Macmillan Hospice*, following the Society’s 2015 Annual General Meeting and its charity golf tournament.
For the 10th year in succession, the Society pledged a donation to charity for every vote cast and for each member questionnaire returned at the AGM earlier this year.
Along with the proceeds of its annual fundraising summer tournament at Leek Golf Club, the resulting £1,595.45 was handed over to the Stoke-on-Trent-based hospice.
The ‘Dougie Mac’ has benefited from the Society’s AGM fundraising for the last decade, receiving more than £11,000 in total.
Suzi Smith, Smith, Head of Corporate Fundraising and Events at the hospice, said: “On behalf of the Hospice I’d like to thank Leek United for their ongoing support of the Dougie
“The Hospice has been well supported by Leek United for a long time, and we are delighted to have been chosen to benefit from their recent fundraising activities.”
Leek United’s cheque was presented to Suzi by Clare Beardmore, the Society’s Marketing and Products Manager, at the hospice in Barlaston Road, Blurton.
Clare said: “We are delighted to be able to continue Leek United’s long-standing support for this wonderful organisation, whose work continues to touch so many lives.”
