STAFF at Leek United’s Market Drayton Branch have celebrated their birthday and Christmas all rolled into one...
2019 marks 45 years since the Society first opened an office in the town, three doors down from the historic site it now occupies in the High Street.
And to mark the anniversary, Branch Manager Dan Nutt and his team invited customers to join them for festive refreshments, as Market Drayton prepared for the Christmas break.
During opening hours on 23 and 24 December, they served sherry, mince pies and other seasonal treats, to toast the Branch’s 45th birthday.
“There is a brilliant, strong sense of community in the town, and we’re on first-name terms with a great many of our regular customers,” said Dan.
“Those relationships have been built up over many years of Leek United serving Market Drayton, and we enjoyed seeing many of our customers to wish them a Merry Christmas, and join them in celebrating our special anniversary.”
Leek United first opened a Branch in the town in 1974, and moved to its present premises – formerly Cunningham’s fruit and veg store – in 1995.
The office is a listed building within Market Drayton’s conservation area, and during refurbishment in 2011, the Society worked closely with Shropshire County Council, to ensure the work was in keeping with the area.Back to news
