LUBS colleagues' year of fundraising

22nd March 2016

LEEK United staff have given an £850 boost to two charities following a year of fundraising…

Colleagues from the Mortgage Applications Department at the Society’s Head Office organised a range of money-spinning events during the past 12 months.

They included cake and book sales, quiz nights and a Christmas jumper ‘dress down’ every Friday throughout December.

The proceeds – a total of £853.40 – will now be divided between Manchester Royal Children’s Hospital and Leek-based charity Love4Leah*.

Joyce Mycock, of the Mortgage Applications Department, said: “The total is a magnificent achievement by the whole department, and our thanks go out to all Leek United staff who have given so generously and supported our efforts in raising this money.”

*Love4Leah is a non-profit children’s charity dedicated to providing vital holiday breaks for children with cancer and their families at Butterfly Lodge, Rudyard. The charity was set up in memory of Leah Powell, of Leek, who lost her battle with cancer in 2013, at the age of 13.
