Homebuyers give charity 'feelgood factor'

26th April 2016

HOMEBUYERS have helped Leek United Building Society to give a ‘feelgood’ donation to a Derbyshire hospice.

A cheque has been presented by the Society to the Treetops Hospice Care based in Derby Road, Risley.

It was the second of four Midlands hospices to benefit from a special mortgage initiative launched by Leek United last year.

The ‘Feelgood Mortgage’ gives members the chance of not only applying for a suitable mortgage with the Society, but also helping a local charity in Cheshire, Derbyshire, Shropshire or Staffordshire.

After following the Society’s mortgage process applicants can choose one of four charities to receive a £50 donation from Leek United – in addition to getting £200 cash back themselves – on completion of their ‘Feelgood Mortgage’.

Kathryn Box, Corporate Fundraiser at Treetops, said: “The ‘Feelgood Mortgage’ is a wonderful initiative, which we are delighted to be involved with. It shows how important the local community is to Leek United and its customers, and we are incredibly grateful for this very kind donation.”

Along with Treetops, the other charitable organisations to benefit under the ‘Feelgood’ scheme include: East Cheshire Hospice (Cheshire), Severn Hospice (Shropshire) and the Donna Louise Children’s Hospice (Staffordshire).

Leek United Chief Executive Kevin Wilson said: “We chose the hospices because their wonderful work touches so many lives across the four counties, and we very much hope that the ‘feelgood factor’ of our mortgage initiative results in further significant donations for them all.”
