Homebuyers have helped Leek United Building Society to give a ‘feelgood’ boost to a Staffordshire hospice.
A cheque for £1,600 has been presented to the Stoke-on-Trent-based Donna Louise Children’s Hospice by the Society.
It is one of four Midlands hospices to benefit from a special mortgage initiative launched by Leek United in 2015.
The Feelgood Mortgage gives existing borrowers with a Leek United savings account the chance of not only applying for a suitable mortgage with the Society, but also helping a local hospice in Cheshire, Derbyshire, Shropshire or Staffordshire.
On completion of their ‘Feelgood Mortgage’, in addition to getting £200 cash back themselves, homebuyers can then choose one of four hospices to receive a £50 donation from Leek United.
Along with the Donna Louise, the other charitable organisations to benefit under the ‘Feelgood’ scheme include: East Cheshire Hospice (Cheshire); Treetops Hospice (Derbyshire); and Severn Hospice (Shropshire).
Leek United’s Head of Mortgage Sales Clare Beardmore – who presented the Society’s cheque to Chris – said: “The hospices’ wonderful work touches so many lives across the four counties we serve, and we very much hope that the ‘feelgood factor’ of our mortgage initiative results in further significant donations for them all.”
Chris Belyavin, Regional Fundraiser at the Donna Louise, added: “We’re so grateful to the Leek United mortgage customers who chose to support The Donna Louise as part of their Feelgood mortgage deal.
“Leek United and its members have been brilliant supporters of the hospice for many years, and this means so much to the children, young adults and families who rely on The Donna Louise. So, on their behalf, I’d like to say a big thank you.”
