Leek United has ‘said it with flowers’ to thank savers who are helping to bring some extra sunshine into the lives of patients at a Cheshire hospice…
A special East Cheshire Hospice Account was launched this summer by the Society to support the vital work of the Macclesfield-based hospice.
Now, the first 10 customers to open an East Cheshire Hospice Savings Account have received one of the special ceramic sunflowers, produced by local potter Caroline Tattersall to mark the hospice’s 30th anniversary this year.
Kate Bowmar, ECH’s Corporate Fundraiser, visited Leek United’s Macclesfield Branch to present savers with their limited edition sunflowers and thank them for their ongoing support.
Each year, the Society will make a donation to the Hospice based on the balances held in the special accounts.
Macclesfield Branch Manager Veronica McNeil said: “We and our colleagues at Congleton chose East Cheshire Hospice as the focus of our charity work in the community, and any fundraising we do is always really well supported by customers.
“People think it’s great that we have a dedicated savings account to directly benefit a local charity, and it’s an ideal way to support the fantastic work the hospice does for patients and their families.”
Kate added: “East Cheshire Hospice receives less than 17% of our funding from the NHS, so we rely on the generosity of our local community to raise £7,500 every day. We’re so grateful to everyone who has opened an East Cheshire Hospice savings account and the whole team at Leek United for their ongoing support.”Back to news
