The LUBS Silent Charity Auction

Leek United Building Society has launched a campaign to raise £60,000 for three local charities whose funding has been hit by the coronavirus outbreak.

We are hosting an online silent auction to raise much-needed funds and we will be auctioning different items to members of the public to help to achieve our fundraising target.

We will match every pound donated up to a maximum donation from Leek United of £30,000.

All funds raised will be split equally between:

Auction start date: 9am Wednesday 27 May

Auction end date: 8pm Thursday 28 May

How to take part in the auction?

Auction terms and conditions:

  • Register your ‘going’ to our auction on our event page here.
  • From Wednesday 27 May go to the Facebook event page. 
  • Scroll down the event page to 'recent posts' or select the 'discussion' tab at the top of the page to find the item posted you wish to bid on.
  • To make a bid for the Online Silent Charity Auction item, simply enter your bid amount in the comment section of the photo.
  • The opening and minimum bid on each item will be stated on the photo description.
  • Each subsequent bid must follow the minimum increment of £5. Any bids not adhering to this format will be declared invalid and voided.
  • You must be a UK resident to bid in this charity auction. 
  • Entrants must be over 18 years old to bid.
  • The auction will run from 9am Wednesday 27 May until 8pm on Thursday 28 May and all items displayed will run within this time period.
  • Once the auction is declared closed, the highest bid entered on the comment section, that adheres to the designated increment, shall constitute the winning bid and will be notified by Leek United, who will comment to confirm they are the winner on their bid.  
  • The winning bidder will be contacted by Leek United declaring they are the winning bid and they will be asked to private message Leek United’s Facebook page to arrange the donation payment through the charity fundraiser 'Virgin Money Giving' page. Please note: you will not be eligible to select gift aid on the Virgin Money Page, please do not select this when making your payment. Leek United will confirm once the payment has been made the collection or delivery of the item.   
  • Donation bids for items won must be made in full. The winning bid must add their name to the donation on the Virgin Money Giving page, so Leek United can certify the payment has been made. 
  • If the item is left unclaimed for 2 working days, it will be offered to the next highest bidder. 
  • By bidding in the Online Silent Charity Auction, each bidder agrees to these auction rules. Leek United reserves the right to add or withdraw items, without notice, to or from the Online Silent Charity Auction. Auction item purchases are final. No returns or exchanges will be issued. All items are sold “as seen”.  
  • Leek United provides no guarantees, or warranties of auction items. 

How to make payment for items won?

You will be contacted on Facebook by Leek United Building Society to arrange payment for the winning item.  

All payments will be made through the Charity Fundraising page – Virgin Money GivingPlease note: you will not be eligible to select gift aid on the Virgin Money Page, please do not select this when making your payment. Leek United will need to confirm the payment has been received, once confirmed we will be in touch to arrange delivery or collection of the item.
