Leek United Building Society is a highly admired financial services provider, strong, independent and deeply committed to supporting its members and the local community in its heartland counties of Staffordshire, Shropshire, Derbyshire and Cheshire.
We are about to embark on one of the most important ventures in our 157-year history by establishing a new Charitable Foundation. And we’re recruiting an Independent Chairperson and three Independent Trustee members to serve on our new Board of Trustees. To avail of this opportunity to make a real difference to our local communities, you’ll need to be hugely passionate about giving back to the community and ideally, you’ll have experience of working on the board of a foundation, charity or similar entity.
What are we looking for?
The Board of Trustees will consist of four independent trustees as well three employee trustees from Leek United Building Society. We have already made our employee appointments and we now wish to appoint the independent trustees, including the Chair.

We hope to gather these skills across all four trustee positions, so don’t worry, we’re not looking for all this experience in one person! The most important thing is a willingness to be hands on – as a new Charitable Foundation, there is lots of work to do to get up and running and raise awareness.

This is a voluntary, unpaid appointment, although reasonable travel expenses will be paid.
It is anticipated that the Board of Trustees will meet 4 times per year, and you will therefore need to commit 4-6 days per year to fulfil this role.
