COMPLIANCE OFFICER

The Organisation

We’re a great place to work too with a strong sense of family – in a recent Best Companies survey, more than 8 out of 10 colleagues said they were proud to work for Leek United, recommending us as a great place to work. And we want to make things even better.

As part of our plans to grow and become stronger, we’re investing in changes across the business including the launch of a digital platform for our members, transforming our branch network and evolving our processes to deliver efficiencies for staff and members alike. We’re also a socially responsible employer with an unflinching focus on making a positive difference to the lives of our members, employees and the local community.

A core foundation of the Society’s strategy is to maintain a robust and fully embedded risk management framework underpinned by a highly skilled Risk & Compliance function.

We’re looking for a Compliance Officer who will provide comprehensive assistance to the Compliance & Conduct Risk Manager, within our Risk & Compliance department.

The Role

As Compliance Officer you will ensure that the Society’s recorded systems and controls are complied with at all times. You will undertake regular monitoring activities in relation to both conduct and financial crime risk, as well as providing support for periodic thematic reviews.

All in all, you’ll need to be able to work well under pressure whilst having the opportunity to build lasting relationships with others across the Society. If you have the skills that we are looking for, then this is an exciting time to join our Risk & Compliance team, in a great working environment and with an excellent rewards package.

What you’ll do

As a compliance professional, you’ll draw on your skills and experience providing valued input, challenge and insight to enable the Society to continue effective risk management practices, playing a key role in the delivery of its objectives.  These responsibilities include:

  • To consider the effectiveness and efficiency of the Society’s systems and controls in relation to compliance and suggest process and control improvements.
  • Support in the collation and delivery of the Annual Risk & Compliance Oversight Plan and the Risk & Compliance Oversight Manual.
  • Maintain and execute a second line oversight plan for assessing the effectiveness of mortgage underwriting, mortgage sales, mortgage arrears and the Branch and Insurance processes and the associated Training & Competence Schemes.
  • Comprehensively capture all regulatory changes on the Regulatory Risk Horizon Tracker and request updates from management on their progress and impact.

What you’ll need

You will be CeMAP (or equivalent) qualified and have experience within a second line function, interpreting regulation, along with a proven ability to facilitate training sessions. You will need the ability to adapt to any given situation and work well under pressure by managing multiple activities.

What you’ll receive

In return for the experience, commitment and drive you’ll bring to this role, you’ll receive a highly competitive pay and benefits package alongside the opportunity to save for your future with our enhanced pension scheme. Should anything happen to you whilst you work for us, we also provide life assurance equivalent to four times your salary. We’re also open to discussing working flexibly.
