Lost accounts
Do you think you have a 'lost' account?
If so, there is a new website, which has been developed to help reunite you with your lost savings accounts.
This FREE service has been made possible by bringing together the three tracing schemes - British Banking Association (BBA), Building Societies Association (BSA) and National Savings & Investments (NS&I).
The scheme covers all UK building societies, banks and all NS&I products as well as the old Post Office savings accounts.
To view the website, go to www.mylostaccount.org.uk where you can instigate a search by providing some information about yourself and your account(s).
More importantly, by using www.mylostaccount.org.uk you only have to input information once and it will be automatically passed on to those banks/building societies/NS&I who can check to see whether you have any lost or dormant accounts with them.
Where a bank or building society no longer exists, eg because it has been taken over by another, the successor institution will carry out the search.
So, if you are wondering what happened to that account you opened as a child, don't delay any longer. Go to www.mylostaccount.org.uk and begin that search!
