United support for junior footballers 03 / 11 / 2011

A JUNIOR soccer team has proudly kicked off its 2011/2012 season with ‘United' support...

Leek United Building Society has given Cheadle Town FC youngsters a boost by sponsoring smart new strips for the club's under-15s boys.

The kit - sporting the Society's distinctive ‘pyramid' logo - was officially handed over to the team by Lynne Ransome, Manager of Leek United's Cheadle branch, during their Saturday morning training session at their ‘home ground', Cheadle County Primary School.

"We're very much a community club, run entirely by volunteers, and as such we rely heavily on the support of local businesses," said Head Coach David Huson.

"Leek United's generous sponsorship is very much appreciated, and the lads can now run onto the pitch with extra pride in their new kit.

"Their old strips have had to last for four seasons, and were getting far too small and tight for them - this donation couldn't have come at a better time."

Cheadle Town run a total of 11 teams - ranging from under-8s to seniors, and including four girls' sides - from several ‘home' pitches in the local area.

Ben Gronneberg, Leek United's Head of  Retail Sales, Insurance and Marketing, said: "The club provides a great opportunity for youngsters of all ages to get involved in community football from a grassroots level. We're delighted to give our support - and we especially wish the under-15 lads all the best in their matches this season!"
