Society sponsorship is 'tops' with young cricketers 24 / 06 / 2010
Young cricketers are
properly warmed up for the ongoing summer season, thanks to Leek United.
The Society is ‘tops' with the junior section of Leek Cricket Club, after supplying
them with 70 sweatshirts, as part of an ongoing sponsorship deal.
The garments - emblazoned with the club badge and Leek United's familiar
‘pyramid' logo - were handed over to youth team members at the club's
Macclesfield Road ground by Leek United's Marketing Co-ordinator, Carol
Rowley.
Club chairman Brian Mellor said: "We run teams at under-17, under-15, under-12
and under-nine levels, as well as a girls' side, and the warm-up tops will be
really useful to all of them.
"We believe in investing heavily in our junior section, which currently has
more than 100 members. With the help of Leek United, we can continue to develop
our young players and we're very grateful for the Society's continued support
and assistance."
Sponsorship from the Society has already helped Leek Cricket Club to finance
indoor training sessions for its juniors every weekend throughout the close
season.
Leek United's Head of Retail Sales and Marketing, Ben Gronneberg, said:
"We have a long relationship with the club and are happy to be able to assist
and support the contribution it makes to the local community."
