Merry Christmas - and a Hattie new year! 13 / 12 / 2011

LEEK United will be wishing everyone Merry Christmas and a ‘Hattie' New Year this month, thanks to the artistic talents of young Hattie Beath.

Hattie, aged eight, of Market Drayton, is the winner of the Society's competition for primary school children to design a Christmas poster to deliver festive cheer to thousands of Leek United customers this year.

She was one of scores of youngsters aged five to eight throughout Cheshire, Derbyshire, Shropshire and Staffordshire to create a colourful Christmas poster featuring Leek United's popular mascot, Humphrey the Camel.

Hattie's winning entry has now been reproduced giant size for display in Leek United's 12 branches across the four counties during the festive period - as well as being featured on the Society's website, www.leekunited.co.uk

She collected her prize at the Market Drayton branch office, where Manager Dan Berrisford presented Hattie with a £50 Argos voucher, and a special framed copy of her own picture.

"The standard of all entries was extremely high, but special congratulations go to Hattie," said Ben Gronneberg, Leek United's Head of Retail Sales, Insurance & Marketing.

"Every year, in lieu of sending out corporate cards, the Society makes donations to two local hospitals - Hattie's winning poster will be our way of wishing customers a Merry Christmas."
