Little monsters help to put a real zip into Society’s fundraising 18 / 02 / 2011
LEEK United has put a real zip into its charity fundraising - with the help of hundreds of little monsters...
Young customers' imaginations have been captured at the Society's 12 branch offices by the sight of the ‘Not So Scary Monsters', a family of colourful character zip pulls designed to raise money for Caudwell Children.
The charity provides treatment, therapies and specialist equipment for sick and disabled youngsters throughout the UK.
And sales of the zip pulls at Leek United's branches throughout Cheshire, Derbyshire, Shropshire and Staffordshire have so far raised more than £500 that will go directly towards helping to improve the lives of children in desperate need.
A cheque for £560 was presented to Caudwell Children's Marketing & Events Manager, Lisa Brian, at the Society's branch in Stafford Street, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent.
Ben Gronneberg, Leek United's Head of Retail Sales, Insurance and Marketing, said: "The ‘Not So Scary Monsters' have proved to be really popular with our young members, their families and staff alike. We're delighted to help Caudwell Children, and look forward to continuing with this initiative as ongoing in-branch fundraising."
The ‘Not So Scary Monsters' each have their own personalities - including Big-Hearted Monster, Girly Monster, Jolly Monster, Cheeky Monster, Bouncy Monster and Love Monster - are sold for a suggested donation of £1 each and can be obtained from any Leek United branch office.
Lisa Brian, of Caudwell Children, said: "We are really grateful to the Leek United staff and customers for supporting this counter-top appeal and helping us to change the lives of sick and disabled children. Our friendly monsters have certainly captured the imagination and I'm sure the Big-Hearted Monster would like to give everyone a big hug to say thank you."
