Leek United's affinity account boost for Air Ambulance Trust 08 / 06 / 2010
LEEK United Building Society re-affirmed its long-running affinity with the County Air Ambulance Trust last week by presenting the charity with vital funds towards the operational costs of the life saving Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) for the people of the region.
A cheque for £6,115.10 was handed to officials of the airborne medical service during a meeting of the Society's Members' Forum at Leek Cricket Club on the 20 May.
The donation is linked directly to Leek United's popular Air Ambulance Affinity Account, launched in September 2008.
"Creation of this special account was part of our long-standing support for the Air Ambulance Trust, and it has proved very popular with customers," said Steve Boulton, Leek United's Head of I.T. and Savings.
"The County Air Ambulance Trust has been one of the Society's main community beneficiaries for a number of years now, and we are very pleased to be able to continue that support."
Leek United's cheque was presented by Paul Marriott (Chairman) and Kevin Wilson (Chief Executive) to Arthur Worthington, the Trust Administrator and Robert Bertram, Charity Director.
The County Air Ambulance Trust was founded in 1993 to help ensure the financial future of the first red air ambulance helicopter based at Cosford. Despite the unquestionable life-saving benefits of their work, the air ambulance operations receive no government or lottery funding whatsoever and are therefore entirely reliant on donations from public and business communities.
Since first sponsoring it, Leek United has donated several thousands of pounds to the Trust.
