Newcastle
The Ancient Borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme was granted Royal Charter in 1173. Set in pleasant countryside it is situated just off junctions 15/16 of the M6 motorway midway between Manchester and Birmingham.
Newcastle is also noted for its award winning floral displays. The traffic free town centre offers a variety of shops, bars and cafes. The renowned ‘Stones' open-air market attracts visitors from across North Staffordshire in Mondays, Wednesdays Fridays and Saturdays. A farmers market is held along side the normal market on the third Friday of each month with a wealth of local produce on offer. On Thursdays and Fridays you can browse through the many antiques and bric-a-brac stalls.
In 1971, Leek United opened a branch in Newcastle-Under-Lyme, which is situated by the well-kept Queens Gardens
