We're no mugs when it comes to fundraising!

LEEK United staff and customers are no mugs when it comes to fundraising...

And they proved it by donating cash to Macmillan Cancer Support after taking part in the charity's ‘World's Biggest Coffee Morning'.

Three of the Society's branches - Macclesfield*, Oakengates and Uttoxeter - joined the national day of fundraising by serving refreshments to customers in exchange for donations.

A cheque for the £256 total raised on the day has now been presented to Macmillan, which will go towards its work in providing medical, emotional, financial and practical support to patients and families affected by cancer.

Beverley Smith, Fundraising Manager for Macmillan Cancer Support, received the cheque from Leek United Branch Managers Jayne Fallows (Uttoxeter), Claire McCarthy (Macclesfield) and David Spittlehouse (Oakengates) at the Society's Head Office in Leek.

"We're delighted at the amount raised, and very grateful to Leek United, its staff and customers, for their help in funding the work we do," said Beverley.

Ben Gronneberg, Leek United's Head of Retail Sales, Insurance and Marketing, added: "The vital work Macmillan Cancer Support carries out extends to families throughout the communities we serve, and we are very glad to be able to do our bit in helping to ensure that it continues."
